From July 9th to 12th

The VIII Media Ethics Conference will take place in Coimbra, Portugal. July 9 and 10 will be dedicated to online communications and July 11 and 12 to face-to-face communications.

Basilio Monteiro

St. John's University in New York (USA)

Professor Basilio Monteiro will open the face-to-face sessions of the Congress with a paper entitled "Making Virtue Ethics Go Viral: Media Ethics in the Information Sphere". 

Rafael Capurro

Stuttgart Media School in Germany

Professor Rafael Capurro will discuss the ethical implications of information technologies in society. In his talk, he will trace the origins of this discussion, which dates back to the 1970s.

Helena Sousa

University of Minho in Portugal

Professor Helena Sousa has coordinated and participated in national and international research projects on media regulation, communication policies and journalism.

Fernando Oliveira Paulino

University of Brasilia, Brazil

Professor Fernando Paulino coordinates the Communication Policies Laboratory (LaPCom-UnB), the Community Communication and Citizenship Project (CNPq); and is part of the Communication and Democracy Project in Brazil and Germany (CAPES/DAAD). 

Paulo Nuno Vicente

New University of Lisbon in Portugal

In his lecture, Professor Paulo Nuno Vicente will discuss: Artificial Intelligence: why do we need the social study of algorithms and data?

Keep an eye on the deadlines for submitting your communication and for registering.

9 and 10 will be dedicated to online communications and 11 and 12 will be face-to-face.

The final works must be delivered by the deadline of September 8, 2024.
