Basilio Monteiro

Basilio Monteiro, Ph.D., is Associate Professor in the Department of Mass Communication and Director of the Graduate Program in International Communication at St. John's University in New York. His specialization is in the area of International Communication and he teaches courses such as Communication and Global Development, Media and Public Policy, Media and Peacebuilding Policies, Media and Human Rights, Media and Public Diplomacy, Ethics in Digital Ecology, among other related courses.

Helena Sousa

Full Professor at the Department of Communication Sciences, University of Minho, since 2011, Helena is also the current President of the Portuguese Media Regulatory Authority (ERC). With a PhD in 1996 in Communication Policy (City University, London), she has coordinated and participated in national and international research projects on media regulation, communication policies and journalism. She is Editor of the European Journal of Communication (Sage), Full Member of the Euromedia Research Group and has collaborated in this area with the Council of Europe and the European Audiovisual Observatory. She was Director of the PhD in Communication Sciences, Vice-President and President of the Institute of Social Sciences (UMinho), Co-coordinator of POLObs, Observatory of Science, Communication and Culture Policies and President of the Cultural Council of the University of Minho. She worked at Jornal de Notícias, in Porto, between 1988 and 1991. She has chaired the ERC since November 7, 2023.

Rafael Capurro

Professor emeritus at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, Capurro holds a degree in Philosophy from Colegio Máximo, Universidad del Salvador, Buenos Aires, Argentina (1971). Research in documentation, Zentralstelle für Atomkernenergie-Dokumentation (ZAED), Karlsruhe, Germany (1972-75). Doctor of Philosophy, University of Düsseldorf, Germany (1978). Post-doctorate in Practical Philosophy (Ethics), University of Stuttgart, Germany (1989). Lecturer at the Institute of Philosophy, University of Stuttgart, Germany (1989-2004). Professor(emeritus) in Information Science and Information Ethics, Media University of Stuttgart, Germany (1986-2009). Member of the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE) to the European Commission (2000-2010). Paulo Nuno Vicente

Associate Professor of Digital Media at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where he founded and coordinates the iNOVA Media Lab, a research and development laboratory dedicated to the areas of immersive and interactive storytelling, the social impact of Artificial Intelligence, web platforms and social networks, innovation and digital transformation, information visualization and science communication. At NOVA FCSH, he coordinates the PhD in Digital Media . He is a member of the Council of Europe's expert group on Artificial Intelligence and Education. He is the author of several scientific articles and book chapters published internationally and the book Os Algoritmos e Nós, published by the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation. He was awarded the German Marshall Fund of the United States Fellowship (2016) and the Calouste Gulbenkian Knowledge Prize (2019) for co-coordinating the science communication program 90 seconds of Science .

Fernando Oliveira Paulino

Professor at the Faculty of Communication of the University of Brasilia (UnB). Visiting professor at TU Dortmund (2020-2021) and George Washington University (2022). President of the Latin American Association of Communication Researchers (ALAIC), one of the founders and members of the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Organization of Audience Defenders (OID) and one of the creators and researchers of the UNESCO Chair "Public communication for social justice, human rights and territorial development" (Comunicar). CNPq researcher (Pq2), Coordinator of the Communication Policies Laboratory (LaPCom-UnB). One of the founders and members of the National Network of Press Observatories (RENOI) and the Communication and Democracy Project in Brazil and Germany (CAPES/DAAD). He was president of the Brazilian Federation of Scientific and Academic Communication Associations (SOCICOM) between 2020 and 2022, Director of the Faculty of Communication at UnB between 2015 and 2019 and a member of the Ethics Committee of the Union of Professional Journalists of the Federal District between 2001 and 2009.
